Ski Areas I Ski
In the winter I mainly ski in the east since I live in Pennsylvania and have to go to school. I ski at Killington, Sugarloaf, Whiteface, Gore, Smuggs, Stowe, Sugarbush, Jaypeak, Hunter and some places in Pennsylvania not worh mentioning. In the summer I go out west to Whistler and Mt. Hood. These two ski areas hold snow all year long. |

Permanent Snow
There are two major hot spots for skiing in the summer. Whistler is home to the freestyle scene while Mount Hood is geared more toward racing. In the summer Hortsman Glacier in Whistler is the place to be for freestyle. The glacier is turned into a huge terrain park with tons of pipes, rails, and jumps. If you go it works best to attend a camp since most of the glacier is not open to the public. Mt. Hood has faster lifts since they run highspeed quads while Whistler has T-bars. Whistlers town is also way better than Mt. Hoods almost non-existent town. There both cool places and Mt. Hood has more terrain, verticle, and usually more snow.
My Favorite Eastern Ski Area
My favorite ski area in the east has to be Sugarloaf in Maine. It has so much terrain, a smooth terrain park, and comparably short lift lines. It also has one of the best pipes I have ever riden. The one thing that really makes it awesome are it's above treeline snowfields. When there open they're awesome. It's the only ski area in the east with lift serviced above treeline skiing. The snow fields give you the feeling of the backcountry since you have to hike a few minutes and your usually one of the only ones up there. It's definatly a good mountain but the weather has to cooperate to appreciate the snowfields.
